Chicana/Latina Foundation, Since 1977
Scholarship Award Alumni Success Stories

Since 1987 over 160 Chicana/Latina Foundation Scholarship Awards have been granted to undergraduate and graduate Latina students; young women who have made notable academic achievements and have worked to make a difference in the community.

2004 marks the implementation of the Scholarship Award Alumni (SAA) section of our website to provide a source of inspiration to readers. While our overall mission is to provide personal, professional and educational support to Latinas throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, we couldn't overlook inspiration and the wealth of stories that lie within the women who have passed through our doors. Scholarship Awardees received our commendations and recognition while attending college and our Scholarship Award Alumni program will serve to report how their efforts, aspirations and dreams have unfolded over time.

Each of our Success Stories highlights how each awardee in their own right serves as an ambassador for the CLF mission and continues to make a difference in the community. Whether it's through helping people to be civic minded, financially secure, healthier, educated, socially conscious — stronger in whatever way possible, each of these women in some way nurtures the human spirit and creates a continuum of hope. CLF Scholarship Award Alumni are role models not only for Latinas, but the Latino community and the community as a whole.

The future looks brighter because of the reach of former scholarship awardees, and we will continue to highlight new stories as time goes on. We have some catching up and hope that each story will be savored for its message and inspiration. The "Scholarship Award Alumni" section of our site will also expand in other ways with features and resources for Latinas about our programs, workshops, and other opportunities that may help them in their personal and professional lives.

We wish to thank Chicana/Latina Foundation sponsor Union Bank of California for helping to make this feature of our site a possibility. Congratulations to all of our award recipients past and present for their accomplishments.

So that we may properly recognize those accomplishments, if you are, or you know of, a former recipient who should have a success story on our site, please contact us. We would love to hear from you.
