Our Honorees
Legacy Award • Sheila E.
Sheila Escovedo picked up the drumsticks and started making music at the precocious age of three. Sheila delivered her first solo performance to a live audience two years later and has since established herself as one of the most talented percussionist/drummers and performers in the world. Best known to music fans as Sheila E., she became a top session and touring musician before the age of 20.
Emerging Leader • Diana Gameros
Diana Gameros is a singer, guitarist, composer, music instructor and social activist. Originally from Ciudad Juarez, Gameros arrived in the Bay Area six years ago and since then she has been creating authentic, inspiring music that reflects the 21st century experiences of a young indie artist at the borderlands between cultures, languages, and genres.

Mariachi Femenil Orgullo Mexicano
Mariachi Femenil Orgullo Mexicano began their journey as the first all female Mariachi in the San Francisco, Bay Area (Northern California) in 2007. The group is comprised of ten women from diverse backgrounds that have been influenced by various Mariachi artists as well as by their own family roots in Mariachi and individual interests.

Azúcar Con Aché
Azúcar Con Aché (ACA) is an exciting multicultural ensemble of women based in the San Francisco Bay Area who play salsa and Latin Jazz style music. The band name translates to “Sweetness with Powerful Blessings”, and the songs are performed in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The ACA sound combines a spicy, creative mix of original compositions with tasty arrangements of standard tunes.
